She was credited for moving women away from the corseted silhouette and popularizing a sporty, casual chic as the feminine standard of style. During the war women usually had to wear trousers, Gabrielle chanel played a big part in making them popular. Chanel was the first designer to use jersey which was originally used for men’s boxers. Chanel wasn’t the first designer to release a fragrance but she was the first designer to put her name on the bottle ingeniously. The famous chanel suit was a popular choice for women trying to build a career in a male-dominated workplace. The suit was worn by celebrities like audrey hepburn and grace kelly. It made a mark in history when Jackie Kennedy was caught wearing it the day of her husband’s assassination.
